6 steps to removing makeup the right way
Not removing your makeup before hitting the sack is the biggest beauty no no of all time. Not only will your makeup stain your pillow cases, denying your pores the right to breathe at night can seriously affect the regeneration your skin goes through while you sleep. Make sure your skin gets the VIP beauty sleep treatment it truly deserves by following the simple steps below.
1. Makeup remover wipes won’t cut it
Makeup remover wipes might seem like a simple makeup-free sleep solution, but giving your face a quick once over with a face wipe just isn’t enough when it comes to cleansing your skin the right way. Wipes only serve to “clean” the surface of your skin, leaving your pores congested with left over makeup. If you want to wake up with spot-free beautiful skin, make sure you was your face with a cleanser post-face wipe.
2. Tie your hair up before removing your makeup
A lot of women tend to forget that their skin goes all the way back to the hairline. Tying your hair up will ensure that it’s completely out of your face, leaving your skin better exposed for cleansing. If you really don’t fancy getting your hair wet before bedtime, wrap a scarf or towel around your head before washing your face.
3. Double-cleansing is a must
Cleansing consists of two phases: the removal of makeup and the deep cleanse. Follow these steps and you’ll sleep well knowing that your skin is properly cleansed.
4. Go gentle on the eyes
The skin around your eyes is incredibly gentle, which is one of the reasons eye creams are specially formulated for this area. Go easy on your eye makeup removal, don’t pull, scratch or rub the delicate skin around your eyes. Just as you would with your eye cream, pat a cotton pad soaked in makeup remover around your eyes and gently wipe away any traces of makeup. Make sure you remove it all, mascara included.
5. Don’t forget the lips
It’s just as important to properly cleanse your lips of any left over lipstick before going to bed. Can’t budge the lip stain? Dab a small amount of petroleum jelly on your lips and gently brush with a toothbrush. This will also give your lips a mini exfoliation treatment, leaving you with soft kissable smackers in the morning.
6. And don’t forget to moisturise
After all that cleansing, you’ll want to give your skin a little tender loving care by apply a moisturising cream. Adding a moisturiser into your nighttime beauty routine will enhance the rejuvenating process your skin goes through as you sleep, so if it’s beautifully supple skin that you’re after, make sure you don’t skip this all important step!
